Challenge

SACyL's challenge was to unify and standardize the multi-center genomic analysis process. A corporate, interoperable, and secure architecture was required to integrate analytical platforms and clinical information, ensuring regulatory compliance across the entire region.

Solution

Genomcore BIMS is being deployed on a robust on-premise infrastructure. The solution automates bioinformatics analyses, connecting directly with sequencers, the electronic health record system (JIMENA), and the central SiGenES node.

Results

As a project currently in the deployment phase, GenCyl aims to consolidate a unique, corporate variant library. This will accelerate diagnoses in rare diseases, oncology, and pharmacogenomics, effectively facilitating secure collaboration networks and population-level precision medicine.

Location

Castilla y León, Spain

About

GenCyl will centralize the complete genomic data lifecycle for the Regional Health Department of Castilla y León (SACyL), with Hospital Universitario de Salamanca as the central node of activity.

Project

Advancing Personalized and Genomic Medicine in Castilla y León

GenCyl represents a transformative step toward the healthcare of the future within the Regional Health Department of Castilla y León. Currently in the corporate implementation phase, this ambitious ecosystem based on Genomcore BIMS will unify the management of the complete genomic data lifecycle.

The designed architecture allows clinicians and researchers from various hospitals to collaborate on a structured, multimodal data warehouse.

The system stands out for its practical application in highly complex use cases, such as the advanced diagnosis of rare diseases, hereditary cancer, and the integration of pharmacogenomic profiles using the comprehensive 5SPM model.

Castilla y León features a central node, located at Hospital Universitario de Salamanca, which consolidates all activity.

In addition to ensuring full interoperability with the JIMENA electronic health record and the national SiGenES initiative, this project will democratize access to precision medicine, providing professionals with technological tools to make more efficient and secure clinical decisions.

The platform deployed for the healthcare system of Castilla y León features an architecture designed according to principles of maximum security and legal compliance. Genomcore holds a fundamental triple certification: ISO 27001 for Information Security Management, ISO 27017 specifically for cloud security, and ISO 27018 for the protection of personal data. Furthermore, service execution through Ednon is backed by ISO 20000 certifications for technological quality, as well as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. The entire ecosystem ensures compliance with the European GDPR and is adapted to the rigorous requirements of the National Security Scheme (ENS) for critical health data.
